They're Coming To Take Us Away ... Or Not?

Around Every CornerAround Every CornerThey're always out there, listening, watching, waiting. Waiting for what? Exactly ...

I want to tell you a story.

This is the face of anxiety. This is the face of fear.

It lurks around every corner, gnawing at your good intentions until they are put on hold for one more day. Perhaps tomorrow will be different.

Yes, maybe tomorrow you can breathe deeply enough to trust the world, or even trust yourself enough to trust the world. That is the hope you wield until it becomes your shield - an egocentric force field.

You know what I mean, don't you?

You have felt it, that paralyzing grip of question. It has ravaged you and left you helpless and hopeless at times. The sting of uncertainty hatched by the misfortune of lessons learned has scratched your soul like a cat.

Only this one doesn't wear a hat. There is no Suess Juice to keep you loose. No green eggs and ham ... just scams and spam.

Could this be the master plan?

You wish to live, you wish to thrive through every goal your heart contrives. But times get tough in Candyland when twists and turns divert those plans. On stable ground you long to stand, but fire rips across the land.

You are now right back where you began.

Perhaps tomorrow will be different.

Yes, maybe tomorrow you will finally find that peace of mind which feels so kind. And maybe you can make it last, long enough to leave your past ... in the past.

Ding!

Oh, no, was that the phone? Another text? An ironical zone that makes you feel so all alone? Just let it ride. There's no one home. But we all know better, don't we?

You have to look, you have to see. Oh, whatever could it be? More bad news or a silly meme? Something mild, or more extreme?

The possibilities are endless. Just do your best, they say ... whoever they are, I still don't know.

And you are now right back where you began.

Perhaps tomorrow will be different.

Yes, maybe tomorrow you will sort it out, just what this fuss is all about. Keep your pace within the race, or risk the face of pure disgrace. But does this come from those who judge?

Or is the judge, in fact, the mirror you currently can't bring yourself to fix a gaze upon?

The answers come in colors bold. More tales are spun, more lies are told. And only those you don't believe could hold the key to your reprieve.

But you stopped believing in belief a long time ago, didn't you? What did they do to you?

Don't answer that, because I don't want to hear. I merely asked to appear sincere. Because as long as I can say I care, and flash a toothy smile there ...

I can return to my safe place where my only problems are my own. Yours are far too heavy, you see. Much too weighty for even me.

See, I can't let you thwart my plan. Now you are back where you began.

Perhaps tomorrow will be different.

Yes, maybe tomorrow the carousel will spin gently. Maybe the questions will be softer. Maybe the print will be refined and easy to read. Maybe your thoughts will treat you right. Maybe you will learn to be a friend to yourself. Maybe you can turn down the noise, avoid static cling and finally rid yourself of ring around the collar.

Maybe you can reveal that ancient Chinese secret.

Maybe you will be able to look in the mirror.

I definitely wish you the best. Do you believe me?
