Hike 1A cloudy mess where the ghosts moan behind a midnight veil ...

The poem below is something that came to me after a failed attempt at writing some lyrics. I was too blocked up to put my thoughts to music, but what came instead is the first poem I'd written in years. And much to my pleasant surprise, it so completely summed up exactly where I've been, where I'm at, and where I am trying to go.

Words can be awesome friends. I hope you enjoy my friends, my friends.

Write it out, line by cunning line. What used to come so easy is now a burden to my mind. If I can’t get it right this time, I’ll further lose this heart of mine.

Fight it out, day by draining day. What used to feel like home is now a place so far away. I have to get it right this time. It’s one more chance to free my mind.

Scream it out, night by lonely night. What once was natural somehow no longer feels right. If I can’t get it right this time, I fear my destiny is blind.

Dream it out, hope of wishful hope. Somewhere in the dark, I’ve found a light with which I cope. I need to get it right this time. Another light, I may not find.

Wear it out, tale by haunted tale. Ghosts won’t be ignored, they moan behind a midnight veil. It has to be just right this time. These ghosts are not the subtle kind.

Tear it out, page by yellowed page. Rough around the edges from so many years of rage. If it is not just right this time, such angst will further break the bind.

Deal it out, blow by hardened blow. Hiding from the world such inner bruises that don’t show. I think it could be right this time if I could learn to walk this line.

Feel it out, step by careful step. Plan a future journey from the past’s destructive prep. I know it will be right this time if only I could …
